According to the UK visas website teaching (that relates to compulsory education ie general education from age 4 to 16), is on the list of shortage occupations.

Maybe that tells you something!

Snickersmuffin, I probably should have explained the significance of the list I pointed to in my earlier post. If you are qualified to do something on that list, you have a reasonable chance of getting a tier 2 (sponsored) work visa which is your most likely route to working in the UK.
