I'm Canadian and my mom was born in N. Ireland and she was telling me that because of this I qualify to get a UK passport and I wondered if anyone knows if that is true and if so do you know where I go to apply.

I figure if I qualify it would be a good idea to get one in case I ever need it.

Thanks!

Check out the web site of the British Consulate or Embassy in Canada - there's probably an application form on there somewhere. A UK passport could indeed be handy as it would allow you to live in any of the 27 member countries of the EU.

Not only should you be able to get a British passport but I believe that people from N. Ireland can get an Irish one as well.

Irish passports may be issued to individuals holding Irish nationality; the Republic of Ireland extends its nationality law to Northern Ireland.

Of course, a British one is better
