The government is to consider introducing new filters for online pornography, in a move likely to be fiercely resisted by internet service providers.

Prime minister David Cameron is expected to consult in the next few weeks on whether ISPs, such as BT and Virgin media, should block adult material as a default for customers.

Looking at the photo they have adapted in that article, I guess that's what they mean by the G spot.

You can already put a child lock on your computer by using the settings in the control panel. It's fairly easy and all contents will be filtered, so I really don't see the need for this further expansion of the Nanny State.

It's time people stood up to some Politicians and told them exactly where to get off when it comes to our personal freedoms. Indeed internet censorship is a slippery slope, in the same way press censorship is. This is the kind of thing I expect in China and not the UK.

According to the actual report, they are not proposing censorship at all, merely a default setting, which is easily undone for the porn fans:

Prime minister David Cameron is expected to consult in the next few weeks on whether ISPs, such as BT and Virgin media, should block adult material as a default for customers.

The tough measures will mean that millions of internet users will be forced to opt in if they wish to view pornography online.

Look how they word it: "Forced to opt in" - as if that is some tragic violation of one's rights. Yeah, whatever. Just as my rights are violated when every piece of software I purchase which is set to American English as a default? Despite the fact that it is sold in the UK? And I am forced to change my settings to Canadian or UK English. Dear God. How do I survive being forced to opt into English done properly () ?

Surely to God there are more important things going on in the country than to worry about policies designed to protect children, at a minor inconvenience to the porn afficiendos out there. Trust me, they'll survive, and if it protects the children whose parents are space cadets and not keeping an eye on their kids online activity, then I am all for it.
