I have a nephew who is getting married this year in England.
We live In USA and no idea how much(been away a long time) we should give to him as a gift.

Just for clarification, are you asking about types of gifts or a typical monetary amount that would be given for a wedding?
If you're not getting the wedding list (I hated compiling mine as we don't need stuff), then get something unique from your part of the USA. Probably not as easy as when I was young before the internet, but do you really want to be remembered for a toaster? Either that, or money.
its hard to say, as each family have different incomes and expectations. We had a gift list and things ranging from 10 pounds to 500. we figured some people i.e. work colleagues may club together so wanted there to be a choice.
I was blown away by some peoples generosity, an aunt and uncle bought us a pair of silver candle sticks and a set of steak knives which probably came to about 400 pounds. These guys are retired and don't have expensive tastes.......My cousin who has his own business and plenty of spare cash bought us a set of napkin rings that were about 40/50 pounds and came to the wedding with his girlfriend and 3 kids...... my brother bought us nothing.... so there is no real benchmark. Can you ask to see the wedding list and maybe judge from the items on it what others are doing ??
I know its not about the money / how much they get etc etc but I also understand that you don't want to appear mean.....
what Ive noticed in the past is that people who already have money get the best and biggest wedding gifts. should this not all be turned on its head and help out poorer rellies. send them fifty quid, which is plenty..
You can give them any useful item or something that is famous in USA or money.
