Considering the OP is a proud American, maybe on second thought it is better that she not go to England. Seems that, according to a certain poster from there, Brits hate America. Of course, maybe he is the one with the problem about America.

No, tom. See, when I was there, everyone hated Americans so much they couldn't keep their rage in when they would hear me talk and ask me 30 questions about life in the US

In British terminology that particular poster would be referred to as a "muppet"! Don't pay any attention.

I've gotten complete strangers inside the Tesco's on Dedworth Road just come up to me and ask me a ton of questions when they would hear me talk to my fiancee. They sure hated me I've also seen one house (I forget which road it's on, believe it's somewhere off Clewer Hill Road) that has a huge Confederate flag painted on their garage door!

They will all have some negative opinions (we wouldn't be Brits without them) but in the next breath talk about the wonderful time had in Florida, or how much we want to visit Vegas or California or go skiing in Colorado etc etc etc

Oh yes, Brits always have something to complain about lol. Honestly, I think it's sad that most Brits' experience of the US is limited to southern CA, Florida, and New York City. I've seen more of non-tourist England than Brits have seen of the non-tourist US. There's more to the US than skyscrapers and tower blocks covering every square foot of Manhattan and places where Canary Island Date Palms and Coconut palm trees grow

Well, one of my good friends here in Philly grew up in Liverpool. He lives here now after moving from Sydney (where he spent 6 years). I wouldn't even bother to ask him about this loathe comment as it would make me sound stupid for even asking. I know better. In fact, he knows quite a few Brits living here. So, at least a few have ventured beyond NYC, Florida, CA and CO.

There are a few Brits where I live. I've met a few Brits from Manchester and Halifax (West Yorkshire) living in my area, and a French person from La Rochelle . I live near Amish Country, PA so it was very surprising seeing them here. I also met a family from New Zealand at a gun range I visited in Bucks County. Most of the European immigrants in my area are from Russia, Ukraine, and Poland.
