The voice of this nurse to me sounded middle aged, I could be wrong, but what if after years of nursing and dedication she was threatened with the sack over her sillyness in believing this horrible prank... so sad.... but to make a prank on any hospital is deplorable and not one bit funny.

As well as the local London press.

It's possible. Imagine working a nurses' station with all the trauma going on and having your mind focused on taking care of patients. Suddenly the phone rings and it is supposedly the Queen. I can see the nurse thinking it is true. The hospital was deluged with the press and phone calls.

The death of this nurse is outrageous. The call went viral on the net and on the telly. I'm sure she felt like she had let down the hospital and the royals. I feel so sorry for this woman. What a loss and what a waste of a good, giving, caring person.

Both the behaviour of the tabloid press and this prank just highlight the fact that the media simply don't care what damage they do to ordinary people in their quest for a 'story', notoriety and more money.

But I have an idea for a jolly jape. Lock up the pranksters and a few journalists in Bellmarsh for a couple of months and see if they find that funny.

I don't see how this is the fault of the 'royals'. The Duchess was a patient at the hospital. It is not her responsibility or that of the 'royals' to run the hospital.

What a crying shame, R.I.P.

And your right the media probably hounded her constantly.

Last time I called a hospital to try to find out about a relative I was told absolutely nothing. This was after being interrogated, rather rudely, I thought.

When my relative got out, she had me call the hospital and set up some sort of protocol with them so that I would be able to get information the next time I called.

The main intent of pointing fingers and finding someone at fault should be to prevent something like this from ever happening again. Fire the pranksters and make them laughing stocks or worse. Find out what protocol this fine private hospital has set in place to prevent just "anyone" from getting directly through to the nurses who are attending the patient. I'm not the one to come up with ideas, but surely there must be a way, a secret password, a direct phone line, something so that people can be certain they are speaking to an authorized person and not someone who has no business knowing.
