It seems like everyone I talk to in Manchester make fun of Birmingham's dialect and culture. Black Country dialect does sound strange especially to an American like myself but I had fun while I was there. I actually didn't see anything wrong with the place. It is quite different then our Birmingham in the US even though they share an industrial past time as steel producers.

Well, tell how I'm off base as I am not from there. I'm just going by what some people in Manchester were saying about the city. I didn't claim I was an expert on the city but willing to know more about this interesting city. I don't agree with them. I'm just the guy looking in from the outside.

The great thing about Birmingham is that it's surrounded by an extensive network of motorways which means it's very easy to avoid.

It's quite possibly the dullest place in England.

Its two most famous sons - Jaspet Carrott and Nigel Mansell.

See that sign half way up the left hand side of the first picture ? All it's missing is an i.

I rest my case.

Trying to work out why anyone from Manchester would make fun of Birmingham.

I had a great time in Burmingham. Hearing the Yohrkshire and Liverpoohl dialects were also odd but rather interesting. As for food I just wish we had "chippies" in America. Oh brummie it's yummy!! I just love the diversity in the UK. Some of us American's think everyone in the UK speaks the Queen's poshness with everything proper in between but now I know that simply isn't true. Interesting what you'll learn while traveling abroad. (vacation or holiday what ever you want to call it) I told the girl at the chipee I'll have "French fries" with that she gave me a confused look like Huh??.

Aaaah yeah, but you probably weren't driving a car. The only time in this man's life I had to actually stop and ask directions and I've driven all over the world. The question went something like this " Ow thee flaming 'ell does one get oot of eere?"

They ain't kidding when they refer to it as "spaghetti junction".
