I would rather be ruled from Brussels than Westminster if it means the regions of England finally get the funding they deserve. People on the street are unaware that the EU is responsible for funding many of the big projects that you see in places like Sheffield and Manchester, including tram extensions and regeneration schemes. They also fund social programmes such as REAL/Relate, which offer therapy to anyone, and IGEN, which helps young people out of work and education by offering them courses in English, Maths, ICT, business, retail, whatever.
Sadly many people have the attitude that if it doesn't directly benefit me then I do not care at all, even though thousands, probably millions, benefit directly from the EU on a daily basis, while all of us probably benefit indirectly in some way.
I no longer vote in the UK but I am a British citizen so have a stake in the outcome.
I really don't see the benefits of leaving the EU. Countries like Switzerland and Norway have been forced to accommodate EU rules and regulations. Britain is no different. The economic power of the EU bloc is so powerful that it cannot be ignored. Britain is better off staying in but conserving our opt-outs and veto powers. That is the best of the two possible worlds. And we need to start learning how to use the EU to our benefit rather than sniping from the fringes
