I think our clothing styles are more similar to Florida and new york than the midwest or some country place. I have noticed that the people in the midwest are very laidback. The clothes worn are very kind of plain. It doesn't look like they put in much effort.
Having said that there alot of British people who are very laid back with clothing. We went to a British restaurant for sunday roast on sunday in Spain and when we went in it was very clear we were overdressed. This happens to us alot. I think it is because we live in the country. If it was london it would be different.
The way people dress in Florida is totally different from the way people dress in New York City. I'd agree, Florida is laid back and it has a semi tropical climate so it's probably harder to be dressed up
New York City is in the north and while it has hot, humid summers, it also has cold frigid winters with lots of ice and snow. People there dress to the teeth. I've never been to NYC in summer--much too hot, but any other time of the year they are very stylish and well dressed. I once flew in from Florida dressed casually and was very conscious of the New Yorkers on the plane, all looking so well put together.
The midwest, I agree, is more laid back as a lot of it is rural. I'm sure they dress up in their cities like Chicago. Washington CD is another place where people dress up--I don't know how they do it in humid summers with temps upwards from 32C/90F --maybe they wear a lot of linen!!
Fashion isn't my forte, but aren't cream jeans the same as khaki trousers?
I wear these a lot during weekends in the spring and summer, going golfing or informal outdoor events.
