Hi thanks everyone. So, 53,000 pound is a good salary but is it sufficient for a family? I will aim to get work as well once the children are settled. What is the job market like at the moment in the UK / Devon?
New Zealand is ridiculously expensive at the moment - and salaries are low.
I have some friends from the UK who say it is at least 1/3 more expensive in NZ.
We had a Japanese student living with us for a bit and she said it is more expensive than Tokyo (hard to believe)

I am very excited to get the opporutinty to travel and be so close to Europe

That's a wide ranging question.

It might help if you were a bit more specific.
