This makes no sense. The UK isn not embracing "ideals" that are similar to 1783 at all. Second, it will not be "suicide" if Scotland votes to leave the union - Scotland can function as a country. The question is whether or not it makes sense to do so.

As a Canadian, it really isn't your call. The queen is almost as much as a waste of space as your post.

Where are people getting this 54% no, 46% yes figure from? AFAIK they havent even started counting the ballots yet.

Furthermore I seriously doubt the results will be that far apart considering how close the polling has been.

It would be kind of neat if the Scots vote for independence and restore the Stuarts as head of state. The German monarchs have always bugged me.

Why would that need a referendum? Can't a simple act of parliament handle that, much like with devolution in 1999?

Scotland is a constituent country (comparable to a US state) while the United kingdom of Great Britain (GB is the island comprising England, Scotland and Wales) and Northern Ireland.

The UK is a sovereign state, the UK is the country...
