Americans were happy to pay for the Provos to blow up innocent people on the streets of Britain but stopped loving terrorists when Osama gave them a taste of their own medicine.
Karma is a wonderful thing at times.
The IRA was already in the process of decommissioning before 9/11 but after 9/11 they stepped up their efforts. The UVF didn't decommission until years later and the UDA even later.

Hopefully we won't have to have all that scenery now with 'decommissioning'. Question is nowadays where is the peace process really going? Is say NI happy to see non-violence now without really an actual 'political solution'? Is that the way things will go for the foreseeable future? And also what's in store as the Americans continue to influence that process between the UK and Ireland?

You know I can see Finland mulling over their neutral status while they have the Russians right next to them and just a jaunt away. But that reason isn't sufficient for Ireland on that score. Question is would they gain by being a member?
And it does cost some money from the coffers. They seem to be doing ok by helping out NATO under some circumstances.
Just saw that Mr. Neeson will be doing a new documentary on the Easter Rising. I'll watch it and be keen to see how the reception goes.
