Since economics is inherently inexact, then I don't see how seasoned economists can say this with any certainty..
I think we will become bigger than Germany economically relative to them in 10-20 years, but then we really need to become more like them in terms of manufacturing high-tech goods. We are recovering well from the recession, however this just based on debt again, though to be fair with some manufacturing but not enough.
Anyhow, I don't get how having a large economy is a sense of pride, I'd care more if our economy was working (which it is), and provided high living standards. A large GDP doesn't have to do any of that.
