What a carry on .. streets lined with crowds to see this man Richard 111 being taken to Leicester Cathedral.. and not York. so there are some unhappy people it seems, but to me it was a big publicity stunt in a way to get more tourists to this area.. Most accounts have his as a nasty piece of work whle others deny this.. but maybe he was happy in his first resting place under the car park..I love history but in this case I think it was overdone and Disney like.. https://au.news.yahoo.com/video/watc...d-iii-paraded/

Disney like sounds a good description to me.

By the way, am I the only one who thinks that Richard III looks remarkably similar to Lord Farquhar in Shrek?

I think this describes Royalty in the 21st Century, not necessarily a bad thing though, Royalty is like a real life soap opera to some people.

The lady from the Richard III society who dug him up said that the reconstructed head was a 'true likeness of England's last..warrior king, 'an approachable kindly face', 'conveying loyalty and steadfastness', a man 'capable of deep thought'.

Wow...maybe we'll be seeing a kinder, mellower Richard now in the new history books? But really that desciption of old Richard has to be conjecture based on a dug up on that skull of his after 500+ years.

And reading his autopsy you don't want to die the way he did. Attacked from behind and assassinated. He unfortunately was a bloody mess after Bosworth.

Found it amusing that when they opened the grave in the car park he was described as well built and noble..how the heck can you tell that from a curved spine skeleton.. was he wearing a crown too.....why do they have to embellish so much.

You know one thing I'll say is the fact that now thet they've got Richard's bones they can do all sorts of tests. They probably can tell maybe if he was 'lactose intolerant' or what his diet was!

And on finding him in the car park. Have to say the archaeologists were lucky to have all those maps made about that Leicester area going back for centuries. Those maps were great to pinpoint where he was buried near Grey Friars Church.

I read that some wanted old Richard buried in York. Curious how York would figure in the final resting place of Rich.
