Sorry to ask such a dull question but does anyone know how long a normal letter actually takes to get from USA to UK?

USPS website just says it 'varies', ....

Its pretty quick (most of the time). I have received mail from the midwest to Windsor in 4 days.

Stock ordered on Amazon usually takes around 7 business days.

Quickest I've had it was 2 days ( from California), longest about 6 or 7 days ( both for "normal" letters) . Packages tend to take about 5 to 7 days.

Something I ordered from the internet recently took nearly 3 weeks, being advertised as "14 working days" - and it was! Hopefully that's not standard though.

I mean just a normal letter you put in the mailbox yourself - 1oz (20g) with a 90c stamp.

thanks

About a week. I have had it be 4-5 days, Christmas up to 4 weeks. All the same with the same postage. I guess the answer is it SHOULD be about a week but it's really up to them. Both mail systems (US and UK) are anything but efficient!!

I used to send things all the time from UK to US when I sold stuff on ebay. It normally takes 2-4 days for letter but heavier items can take ages unless I paid to ship via airmail. 2-4 weeks by ship I believe!

You can usually bank on under 7 days, or roughly at 1 week. I am in Pennsylvania and my Mother in Law is in Bedfordshire, I sometimes receive letters within 2-3 days. Funny thing, I sometimes will receive post quicker from the UK than my own Mother here in the states.

We just sent a birthday card from California to the UK last Saturday, with the hope of it arriving there by last Thursday. We usually post it priority international, which, strangely enough, can take longer (special bin at the post office?). This time, we just sent it by ordinary airmail, and the card arrived in the UK on Tuesday (3 days later)!

Best regards,

CMChatter

About 4-6 days. You have to go to a post office to get your letter weighed and then they give you the correct amount of stamps. It's a pretty quick service. Good luck and welcome to the UK
