Hiya Star........ I've been up all night! At 3pm, the result was on a knife edge, and it could have gone either way. Then, slowly, it turned our way.

Happy Independence Day to you also!!

Geert Wilders is already calling for a NExit.

PVV congratulates British with Independence Day. "Now it's our turn".

Thursday, June 23, 2016, will go down in history as Britain’s Independence Day. The Europhile elite has been defeated. Britain points Europe the way to the future and to liberation. It is time for a new start, relying on our own strength and sovereignty.

A recent survey (EenVandaag, Dutch television) shows that a majority of the Dutch want a referendum on EU membership. It also shows that more Dutch are in favour of exit than of remaining in the EU.

The Dutch people deserve a referendum as well. The Party for Freedom consequently demands a referendum on NExit, a Dutch EU exit. As quickly as possible the Dutch need to get the opportunity to have their say about Dutch membership of the European Union.

“We want be in charge of our own country, our own money, our own borders, and our own immigration policy. If I become prime minister, there will be a referendum in the Netherlands on leaving the European Union as well. Let the Dutch people decide.”

The oddest part of this brexit thing to me is that to me, the EU is like the US in that I have it in my mind as it being one "thing" (like the US would be), and not multiple countries working in unison.

Now I'm expecting a civil war for the UK "seceding" from the EU, but it isn't applicable, because the UK didn't "belong" to the EU in the same way a state belongs to the US. Except I haven't taught my brain to accept it.

Wow..... that is great. I hope we have given hope to others who wish to leave the EU.

Congratulations to the Brexiters: democracy in action!

Personally I voted the other way, and have grave misgivings about Britain's forthcoming independence in two years time (assuming the PM invokes Article 50 of the Lisbon Treaty this morning!)

Interesting times ahead, I guess

If only we had known the results ahead of time, we could have planned for a display of fireworks.
