On a documentary somewhere, which was made in the 90s, I saw a British Catholic priest say, "we might be on the same tectonic plate as Europe, but we're not part of Europe, no."

lol

I don't think many people in the UK would actually describe themselves as, or feel European.

I'm European. I've taught my child to speak French from an early age, and made her aware of many countries on the continent of Europe. We visit Europe as often as finances allow.

I voted Leave, having started the campaign in the Remain camp. My switch was nothing to do with "European-ness", but dissatisfaction with the undemocratic nature of the EU's institutions, and the barefaced lies of UK politicians trying to scare me to vote Remain. Everyone in power treated the British people with utter contempt and I believe Brexit is a tragedy that could have been avoided.

I'm European but my country/culture is distinct from those cultures of mainland Europe.

Being European doesn't mean we have to be similar.

hahaha laughable isnt it the celebs and politicians who have put out the red carpet for syrian refugees....not on yer nellie they wouldnt and didnt.. all hot air.. While a spokesman for Sturgeon said there was no update on this two weeks after her pledge, with 26 weeks gone since her comments Mr S thought she must be making good progress. Alas, Sturgeon — like Cooper — is yet to do as she previously suggested. ‘The situation is indeed as previously indicated,’ Sturgeon’s spokesman says.

At least Sturgeon can take comfort that she is not alone here, with both Sir Bob Geldof and Stan Collymore thought not to have taken refugees despite their own promises. In fact, even the Archbishop of Canterbury is yet to house a refugee family despite pledging to let them stay in a cottage on the grounds of Lambeth palace. However, a Lambeth Palace spokesman says that they ‘hope to have an update soon’ and insist that the offer ‘still stands’.

Should Mr S assume that the same can’t be said for Sturgeon and Cooper? oops nearly forgot Patsy from Absoltutely Fabulous was also big hearted Bertha.. Joanna Lumley.

I'm already Welsh and British - that's enough for me. I don't feel like I need another identity of being European, even though I am, technically.
