Hey I don't care, stick up a 20' high wall for all I care, at EU expense if course. It's not our responsibility to police a border we've not had since 1923.
It's a frontier with the EU, so yeah you'll be doing checks just like the EU (via RoI) will be doing.

You keep saying this like it's obligatory.

It's not, never has been, that's what controlling your borders means, no matter how many times you repeat the untruth it does not make it true.

In reality that is the only way to control your borders.

Well then apparently the UK is all for open borders, because they've existed for 96 years. Who knew.

So now Theresa goes back to the EU, and says 'reopen the deal. We want the backstop removing. Do that, and I can get enough votes in Parliament for a soft Brexit. It's in both our interests for this. How about it?'

The EU keep their serious face on, and say nope....... the backstop isn't going anywhere. Then what? We stare each other in the face, waiting for the other side to blink?

It's going to be real interesting as the end of March approaches.

It's just nuts Paul. Theresa is now going to go back to the EU and say the backstop needs removing. They're going to say nope. So what next? It's just batting the ball back and forth, and nothing happening at all to progress. It is just a stalemate.

Yet, there are forces at work here determined to stop Brexit, and keep us in the EU. These forces can't remove Theresa May to get someone in more to their liking. Corbyn can't force a general election. No matter how strong her defeats in Parliament, Theresa just soldiers on regardless, with no intention of resigning.

I have no idea how this is going to pan out. The nearer we get to the end of March, the more remainers will panic. If Theresa can hang on, we leave at the end of March even with a hard Brexit. We're going to see some desperate measures by the remainers. They are running out of time.

Also, the EU doesn't want us involved with European elections in May. They want us remaining in the EU properly by then, or out. They don't want to extend article 50 so we have to be given votes for the European Parliament.

It's going to get hairy now for sure. I think the leavers in Parliament think the EU will blink as we get closer to the end of March. We have a lot to lose, but so have they. That £39 billion is already spent in their minds, and they want it. Plus all the EU jobs at risk after a hard Brexit. The Irish are also waking up to the damage to their economy a hard Brexit will bring. Leo the Lion is starting to panic.

Even though I know the difficulties created by a hard Brexit will cause many problems, and even disruption, it's looking like the best way forward. Do it, survey the wreckage, and then set about rebuilding. We can't accept the backstop, and depend on the EU agreeing a trade deal to ensure it doesn't come into play. I think the EU have every intention of using it, and keeping us trapped within the EU in everything but name. They know this, and are smiling behind their hands. We have to show them we're just not going to put up with it. We need to be free of them for good.

we must not whatever it takes remain in a customs union with the EU, that would stop us doing any trade deals with countries outside the EU and is against the very spirit of the referendum result.

Corbyn goes on about us remaining in a customs union. If we do, that ensures we can't do trade deals outside the EU, and free movement continues. He is a useless sod, who changes his mind from week to week, just what he wants.

The very idea of such an idiot winning a General Election, and going to negotiate with the EU is laughable. They would eat him for breakfast.

All we have, and gawd help us, is Theresa May. She has to see this through, and get us out of the EU.
