It's not really a revelation is it ?
These groups want a US-UK trade deal. They haven't made any secret of it.
And I've eaten chicken in the States for decades and never once tasted chlorine.
I've never had salmonella there either - which is what this perfectly safe method of rinsing raw chicken lessens.
Ultimately this article is in The Guardian which is a truly dreadful newspaper.
I am very much a "remainer", but I will say The Guardian takes a very jaundiced view of Brexit, and will attempt to belittle & begrudge the whole leaving process as much as possible.
Its readers and its opinion writers are also quite arrogant and aloof, and never bother to consider a more objective thought-process. Moreover, it likes to take a pop at the Daily Mail and its readership for being rabidly right-wing with a "little Englander" mentality, and yet it too is just as blinkered with its liberal anti-British sentiment.
Some of its journalism is quite excellent at times, but for the most part its just a mouthpiece for liberal socialists. As a consequence I can never take the paper seriously, in much the same way I don't take much notice of the article either.
The Guardian is full of angsty feature writers demanding heads must roll over some minor discretion but remain silent when one of their own is caught out.
Witness them all demanding Damien Green resign for having porn on his computer .
Now they're all full of support and sympathy for " the journey "Brendan Cox the widower of murdered MP No Cox is taking .
The journey ? He's a serial sex pest forced to resign from a charity for his behaviour and on another occasion grabbed a woman by the throat and demanded sex.
The hypocrisy of these people is staggering.
Remember that highlight of Project Fear when Seimens and Airbus both warned they could leave Britain in the event of a Leave vote in the referendum ?
Britain’s multi-billion aerospace industry and engineering base would be at risk and 100,000 jobs could be lost.
Shortly after the vote Siemens’ CEO Joe Kaeser announced he was “confident and optimistic” about the “big opportunities” in Brexit Britain.
And now guess what, Airbus Chief Executive Officer Tom Enders has written to the Business Secretary Greg Clark promising the U.K. government that Airbus plans to retain its British operations “long into the future’’

Hear, hear.
It is distressing to discover that so many intelligent people blindly assume that their paper/news source is accurate merely because it echoes their own beliefs, or what they want to believe.
This is rife in the American population, as well. I always assumed that Fox News was a corrupt propaganda source beholden to the Republican party/conservative politics.
Then, when I was in a situation where I was exposed to a lot of it, along with right-wing radio, I discovered not only that I was correct, but it put my previous news sources (CNN, New York Times, MSNBC) in a new light. Which is to say, they were all corrupt propaganda sources beholden tot he agenda of bigger, political entities.
In a nutshell, read and listen to everything, but trust no one. Isolate the facts, then synthesize your own understanding of the truth of events and conditions.

It's called confirmation bias, and it's an issue for anyone trying to be objective.
News sources wise I need to scan and read dozens each one outside of their agenda, I read US news only for sports and even that's questionable.
