I've been reading a lot of news articles and reactions on the Brexit and I'm surprised the Queen hasn't made a statement or speech about it. The UK is in turmoil now and the Queen has always been seen as a symbol of stability and security. Her comments could go a long way to reassure Britons who are probably feeling anxious. Maybe I've missed something but I haven't read any comments from her. What are your thoughts?

She supports Brexit and probably doesn't want to make a stand on it.

Queen Elizabeth II, has to stay neutral in political affairs and can't even vote.

Yeh, from what I'm reading here across the pond, it's a mess over there now, deeply divided and in turmoil.

The queen coming and taking a stand one way or another is only going to complicate things and divide people up more. What I hope is that SOMEONE will do SOMETHING soon. Something positive and rational and good. Get going. You know the saying, "XXXX or get off the pot!"

I understand the Queen has to stay neutral but she could maybe give a pep talk or speech to reassure the country without taking sides.

Queen doesn't do that.

She might pick an audience or meeting and make a softly but heavily weighted statement. Such as at the Scotland referendum she indicated that she hoped they consider carefully as they voted

My guess is David Cameron will get the word in a private meeting. Whatever the word is

"Farewell" might be a good guess.

I am not a fan of the Queen or the Royal Family in general. But to be honest our Monarch probably doesn't fully understand the implications of what is currently happening in this country! In fact she would be in good company because a lot of far more educated and politically versed commentators have no idea what might happen.

Uncharted territories here: and I think if the Queen opened her mouth one way or the other, it could have implications both politically and for the Crown itself. And given the way the Stock Markets hang on every headline, if she did say something either for or against leaving the EU, the (global) markets could crash or hit the roof in an instant!
