My friend arrives Thursday from UK and my Husband has insisted she brings Marks and Sparks flapjacks with her !! and pork scratchings.
I just want my Mr Kiplings cakes and Walkers crisps.

Target are selling Creme eggs, 3 boxes for $5 until Saturday I think. Each box has 3 eggs in it. I bought the regular, caramel and orange which I think are new. I have friends coming out for Spring Break and I want them to bring mint sauce. I can get Cross and Blackwell's mint sauce here but it is already diluted so it doesn't last very long. I'm looking forward to moving back to TX and then I can grow my own mint and make mint sauce.

Real brick houses, old buildings made of brick - I live in suburban Texas where houses are thin as card!
Streets of Victorian terraces, I think they are in my blood.

Are you sure with the new restrictions they can bring such a thing on the plane as mint sauce?
AND you should be able to grow mint indoors on a window sill while your in Illinois so you can make your sauce.

I miss my Mum and my nutty family most of all! Yes, feeling even more homesick just reading this thread.
My hubster told me today that I've lost most of my English accent. Then I have people ask me where I am from since they detect and accent! I feel like I'm loosing my "Britishness"
BTW, I make my own mint sauce. Tastes just as good as the store bought stuff. You just have to make sure you get the right amount of sugar in it.

Ok I have not left yet and the thought of leaving all my English food is putting me in panic mode, I will post forward as much as I can before we leave in April. There is a British shop in Atlanta so I will be driving there a lot, we are moving to south GA.
I will miss :
cheese and onion crisps
custard with apple crumble or rhubarb
good bread
the whole of marks and spencers - food and underwear
English breakfast
a good fresh sausage roll
custard creams
jaffa cakes - low fat a good for that chocolate craving
I also prefer British deodrant so does my American cousin
food for the kids - healthy snacks without costing too much (organix)
walking and cycling
corner shops
You can try UKTV Food for English recipes.

I just remembered something.
At Boots and other places as well they sold these wonderful sandwiches of shredded cheese with onion, it was really good. It reminded me of our pimento cheese a bit.

It is ok to bring over jars of mint sauce and such as they are non-perishable. I have always grown mint outdoors but I will try growing it indoors. Fresh mint sauce is lovely as it is totally different to the jarred stuff but I love both.

Is it allowed on planes though, since it's liquid?
Ironically I've got a couple of uncontrollable mint plants in my garden and I don't like mint sauce! Anyone want to swap gardens?

The airlines in the US would not allow this to be brought on the plane, they don't even allow things like water bottles and so forth.
