My gosh Britain's on fire down there! You're neck and neck with China at this point. Proportionately British athletes are doing far better than the other two in the top three - 50 medals vs. China's 51 vs. the US at 86. 62 million vs. 1.2 billion vs 320 million people. Congrats and I'm sure you're very proud of your country's performance in the summer games.
Nice to see some positivity on here BeauCharles! Yes, as a Brit, it's glorious to watch our athletes do so well, especially golden couple Laura Trott and Jason Kenny who have dominated the indoor cycling. I'm pretty sure China will sneak past Team GB towards the end as they'll feature heavily in diving and badminton among others, but when you consider Team GB came away with a single gold as recent as Atlanta 96, they've come a long way!

^ This is exactly what I think. We should all be very proud of Team GB, their performances and all of the medals.
And yes, I remember previous Olympics, such as 96, which were dismal for Great Britain. It just shows what the Lottery funding into sports has done for us. I wonder if other countries will try this route, now it has proved successful for the UK? Then they'll all be beating us again!

I think the Aussie's have tried lottery funding, but they've underperformed this time so who knows?
Typical of The Guardian, they're never happy unless they're taking potshots at Great Britain as a whole, sports or otherwise.
So big surprise to see a damning article from that shrug-git Simon Jenkins criticizing our achievements in the Rio Olympics this week!
So easy for washed-up journos to think up anything disparaging regarding the hard-work and graft of our athletes, as they sit at their desks munching on crisps and fizzy pop, with their idea of exercise is walking to their company cars!
I suppose Jenkins would have wrote a similarly damning article had GB finished bottom of the medals table!

Yeah, I read that. Such a miserable sod!
BTW Absolutely incredible performances by the Brownlee brothers. Gold and Silver leaving the rest for dust!
Unbelievable performance by Team GB... this small Island being up there with the big kahunas. I remember watching Olympics in the 90's and being glad when Team GB got one medal...
incredible performance all round , i find the velodrome cycling an incredibly boring sport but the way the brits dominate it is remarkable
