I really love listening to the Bagpipers playing and when they march in parades here in America. Are they still popular in Britain? Sometimes i'll Google ''Bagpipes Marching'' Videos and just listen and watch the videos for a long time

In Scotland. They are popular during the Festival, for St. Andrews day, weddings, Burns Night, highland games and military events. We have ceilidhs, which are kind of Scottish dancing and music parties. And of course there is big business in being the Lone Piper standing outside of tourist spots and in the Highlands.

LOL - with you there! Can't stand them. Maybe we've been over-exposed to the racket by the guy that sometimes play outside Binns LINCOLNSHIRE? (There's a bagpipe busker in Lincoln centre sometimes. I think people pay him to stop but he doesn't get the hint.)

I don't mind listening to bands with several of them playing together on TV (so I can turn the volume down) - don't get me wrong, I don't choose to watch that sort of thing, but if it's part of something else I tolerate it - but really they're just so LOUD I have trouble with them close-up.

I think the best description I`ve heard is `` The bag under the players arm [ I use the term player loosely] contains 3 cats and a Jack Russell

I used to know a doctor who practised his bagpipes outside the hospital mortuary. He said it was the only place where he could be certain of no complaints!!!

I have no desire to watch a hairy legged guy in a kilt blowing into something that sounds like a calf getting castrated.
