Some posts to City Data suggest that-with WTO rules-the UK will apply tariffs to imports from the EU.

American politicians have begun to openly talk about protectionism.

I think that we are beginning to see the end of globalization. I expect trade to be increasingly sequestered within trade blocs.

Those few countries that tried to practice free trade will themselves start to impose tariffs...except for a few select trade partners.

Countries that have had mercantilist policies will find themselves treated the same way that they treat others.

I think that 'people' will do whatever it takes to make money, for example if Germans want to chuck tariffs on their cars there will be plenty of other car manufacturers in the world chomping at the bit ready to do deals to sell their cars, as for the population of Britain itself (as with any population of any country) they will purchase what they consider is the 'best deal' its called business and putting sanctions or tariffs in place is damaging to 'business' ALL parties are going to want to do what is best for 'business'.

brexit is an act of protectionism , whether the uk goverment follow through in real terms remains to be seen but i doubt blue collar workers in the north of england want one low wage - high movement of people - worker zone replaced with another
I think people are going to be surprised when Trump is elected president, and it will be because of similar sentiments expressed by the Brits in the Brexit vote.

Globalism as envisioned by the likes of Soros and Hillary Clinton are being rejected now that the masses have woken from their stupor.

The Next Decade by George Friedman.

Quoting:

"Nixon and China showed that major diplomatic shifts can take place quite suddenly. There is often a long period of back-channel negotiations, followed by a breakthrough driven either by changing circumstances or by skillful negotiations."

ordinary blue collar workers in america would have been better served by getting behind bernie sanders though sanders would be in favour of mass immigration , trump has never ever shown any regard for the plight of struggling people

i say that as someone who given the choice right now , would probably vote for trump was i an american

clinton is indistinguishable from the kind of republicans i hate , i like pat buchannan style republicans but those are few and far between today

In light of the Trump victory, it is going to be difficult to know exactly will happen with regards more opportunities globally.

We've seen two unexpected election victories this year: Brexit, and now Trump. The rest of the EU, NAFTA and the world generally, are all in a shock and confusion as to what will happen next, primarily because no one really know the real intentions of the respective victors in terms of trade, commerce and free movement of labour.
