This is horrific and it has to stop, watch this driver just before he crashes, its not just phones though, its smoking with one arm out the car, drinking coffee, putting on mascara, reading, one woman was photographed on a motorway driving and knitting, but these deaths are just too sad and ten years isnt enough. Lorry driver who killed mother and three children while on mobile phone sentenced to 10 years - ITV News

Studies have shown that even listening to music or talking to someone in the car or on the phone (even hands free) is distracting from driving. It lowers your attention on driving by a certain amount (not as much as something like texting though) - can't remember the exact percentage.

can well imagine, drivers have to be aware all the time, but he was so negligent as you see him squint up at the road then look back at this phone before its too late.

To lose a young family like that is heartbreaking and my heart goes out to their nearest and dearest.

As for the current laws Law they are too lax, indeed anyone caught texting while driving should be given a mandatory two year ban and a £5000 fine, that would help put a stop to this madness.

These smartphone zombies are a menace, and it is worldwide, not just in your neck of the woods.
