What's interesting about George Harrison is that he and his cohorts were acquitted at their 1981 trial based on their claim of their gunrunning operation being sanctioned by the CIA . Which makes the claim of American deep state involvement with the Provos all the more plausible .
Come to think of it the claim of the US purposely turning a blind eye to Provo gunrunning with the intention of destabilizing the UK and making it more dependent on the US , makes good sense in light of the former Cold War context .
