It is a shame that the other thread that was discussing Prince Harry's father being Hewitt is closed because I finally thought of what I wanted to say and why the subject disgusts me so much.
Putting aside all the discussion of who looks like whom and who met whom when, to even bring up the subject presupposes two things (besides rudeness and poor 'raising' of the person bringing up the question):
(1) that Diana did not know how to use birth control and the royal family did not know how to do a paternity test if there was any question of his parentage. Basically she is just too stupid to keep from getting pregnant in an extramarital affair and the Firm is so unaware of DNA technology that they wouldn't know how to confirm or deny his parentage if doubted.
(2) that it is OK for men to have affairs and mistresses but a wife must remain forever celibate 'being' with her wandering husband only. Or else, their children will endure a lifetime of shame, name calling, and 'cute' remarks about their parental genetic history. Even if the wandering husband is the genetic father, the child bears the brunt of the derision.
Oh come on, haven't we moved past that hurtful concept of chastity belts to ensure a pure line? So it is OK for the husband to run around, but little wifey must keep to her lonely self because if she does succumb then any child she has, past or future, will be subject to name calling every time the child steps out in the spotlight.
Imagine what Harry has had to endure.
There are non-paternal events in many families, and if anyone deserved one Charles did; but Harry doesn't deserve to be made the butt of cutesy jokes. And as a female, these comments are downright insulting.
I think the strongest theme for the Who's the father? question is that women are inherently deceitful. Deceitful and easily deceived. This notion goes all the way back to the idea of Eve. Fortunately it says more about the one holding this belief than it does about the one being targeted by it.

When a Princess of Wales gets up in front of God and the world on live television and announces she committed high treason (adultery), then all bets are off.
Diana Spencer had a lucky escape and overall was very lightly dealt with on balance. Though didn't think they were going to bring back beheading just for her and the fancy man.
What is "insulting" is that Diana played the woman and was gobsmacked when the Queen ordered she and Prince Charles to divorce not long after the infamous Panorama interview.
Like far to many modern girls/women Diana believed (wanted) to have her cake and eat it as well. Doing things before carefully considering the ramifications then falling back upon "I'm just a silly thing, who doesn't know nothing about nothing", so shouldn't be held responsible.

Excuse me? What?

Er... how about the many years that Charles was carrying on with Camilla?

This thread isn’t going to go well...
Again, Prince Charles didn't get up on national television and broadcast that fact.
Besides call it what you will but there still is a "boys will be boys" mentality in not just GB but elsewhere.
Furthermore two wrongs don't make one right. Diana knew of Camilla and her relationship with PC before her wedding (and got further confirmation as that event drew closer), but still chose to go through with things.
