Default Petrol Cheaper ?

I have heard that in the UK petrol (gas) is cheaper than what it used to be. Is this true? Yesterday I paid $3.58 for unleaded gas and that's the most I've ever paid.

No - it's more expensive than it used to be. $3.58 is an absolute steal.

I don't know if this has anything to do with it but keep in mind a British gallon is different from an American gallon and in the UK the prices are by the liter.

Right now in SC I just payed $3.38/gallon. 3.8 liters to an American gallon so if I am doing my math right, that is about $.94/ liter or only about .47 of a pound. Did I do that right? what is it going for right now in England?

No! It's massively more expensive than it has ever been. It's crossed the 1.00 per litre mark - the volume goes up more slowly than the cost now when you're filling up. Very depressing.

Av for unleaded 109.1p (whole of UK - don't think it would just be quoted for England)

I did the maths once a while ago but I got it a bit wrong because of the gallons issue. I think it's around $8 a gallon. But I might be wrong about that...

Here's the logic:

My cheapest nearby petrol is 104.99p a litre.
That's $2.07 for 1 litre
That's $2.07 for 0.264 gallons
So $7.84 for 1 gallon.

You really confused me with your surprise for a second there! Then I noticed "London KY..." Is that Kentucky? I think I knew you guys had the odd London or two over there.

In London there's somewhere selling for 129.9p - that's be $9.70 - ouch.

Yes, it's in Kentucky. The Jackson's settled here along with other English people in the early 1800's, hence the name London.
