Shoreham by Sea is not much to speak of - but it's only five minutes from Brighton - the most vibrant town in the south east! There is plenty to do and see there, and you can get to central London by train in under an hour.
Brighton is packed with restaurants, cafes, bars, clubs, great shops

The Royal Pavilion, Brighton, a pier
Brighton Pier - arcades, weddings and corporate functions on the sea, a fun seafront promenade and loads of things to do. Lots of 'what's on' info here

Eating-wise there is almost too much choice, but the Regency is a very good place to start.
Brighton Restaurants - The Regency. And Terre a Terre is fabulous, one of the best restaurants in the country - it's vegetarian but the flavours are so wonderful you'll never notice.

Carat's Cafe
Carats Cafe Bar | Basin Road South | Southwick | West Sussex | BN41 1WF on the beach at Shoreham, and The Schooner Inn at Southwick - are both good food and views, but it is a port/harbour town so more interesting than picturesque
BTW it's a good idea to eat out in pubs - more casual, friendly and cheaper (usually) tho Brighton is becoming over-run with gastro-pubs. The Basketmakers is one of my faves
Basketmakers Arms.
Quite a few celebrities live at Shorham, including Heather Mills (Paul McCartney's ex) and Fat Boy Slim in the deco houses on the seafront, and Brighton is stuffed with them.
Enjoy!!!
