Interesting, as in not very interesting at all. Who cares where various ancestors did or didn't come from? I prefer to judge people on how they behave now, today.

I'm interested to know why someone would post about something uninteresting to them...probably because of my Viking and African ancestry.
No, not neccasy, they claim now that the white populTion that migrated from siberian was never in africa
The point was that Africans are the source of humankind so everyone 'has African in them' which is true. It may be more removed from various populations but it remains a fact.
I'm sure this is a no brainer to most in the U.K. but i thought that Norse DNA was scattered all thru out the U.K. but it's mainly in the Northwest of England according to these DNA Blood tests.
Second story i'm sure less were possibly unaware that there is lots of African DNA in the bloodlines in certain parts of the U.K from 1800 years ago and not from current migrations. Some of the Roman Military Soldiers under Emperor Hadrian serving along Hadrians Wall were Black Africans although they are unsure if all of it is directly from Africans or from migrating Celtic Tribes who had an African Chromosome in them as they had earlier intermingled with them in Northern Africa.
Anyway just some interesting stuff as i'm always researching about early Europe and it's many different peoples and thought i'd post for anyone who's interested.
yes, that area was called "The Danelaw".
mostly confined to the Northern half of Britain, the south and south West was controlled by the Anglo Saxons.
I think there are a number of people in the UK with "hidden" Indian ancestry as well. Saw a recent genealogy program and Richard Branson of the various Virgin companies (blue eyed, blond haired) discovered he was 3% South Asian.

Despite Saxonwolds claims otherwise, I think you will find there is an awful lot of diversity hidden within the people of the UK.
I agree with that, ( pre- 1850) over Britain as a whole, I would say 80% have indigenous British blood-Celt is often used, Angle/Saxon/Jute Dna 15%, Viking, Norman ( same as) 2%, and I would say many 0.5% of Jewish, North African ( from Roman times), Slavic, African( been communities here since Tudor times ) Asia and Balkan. ( Again, from Roman times).
I remember the tall blond one from Spooks ( forgot his name) had Indian ancestry. ( I thought he looked ruling Viking/Saxon)
It's surprising what turns up on these DNA tests. I had one done from Ancestry, and beforehand assumed that I'd be mostly British and Irish (which was the majority of my results) and I would probably be 100% European due to me being quite pale skinned.
I was quite surprised when the results mentioned 1% Central Asian and <1% West Asian - I'm not sure where that has come from! But these results are supposed to go back by a thousand years, so I shouldn't really be so surprised.
I don't think I have much Viking blood as I'm only <1% Scandinavian, whereas my husband's test (he's English) showed him to be 29% Scandinavian. I'm guessing I'm more Celtic, well on my mother's side at least, as her family are from Wales, Ireland and Cornwall. My father's family are all English - from the Midlands and Southern England. Lots of people in S E Wales are of English descent and you can tell by the amount of English surnames around here (including my own maiden name).

there are studies that claim this is not true, it was two or more races back then too. that those that came from siberian and those of asian, has no gene from africa. and africa not the source of human kind.
I've read that the Portuguese were pioneers of European navigation around Africa, back in the early 1400s. If the Portuguese could get around coastal Africa, why couldn't Africans go up to Europe? Makes sense to me.
If the Vikings were daffy enough to explore as far west as northeastern Canada, then I have no doubt that the occasional explorer has been venturing further than we would imagine, ever since ancient times.
