Anyway, back on topic, I've always heard that the reason that there's such a disparity between British teeth and American teeth is fluoride. In the states it's in the water and toothpaste, in England, not so much.
The UK is not a socialist country.

The NHS - it's free at the point of delivery, in shorthand to us that is 'free'. And yes, we know that we pay taxes, we did notice

The USA's insurance system doesn't compare - I know - I have lived in both countries. I know how much debt many many many American people are in; due to having babies, braces and heart attacks - plus paying for insurance and medication on top. And then those without insurance - well, the insured are paying for them . But that's a whole other thread....

Compared to the US, it is. The NHS is what I always considered to be "socialized health care". No?

I'm American and I have real teeth and they are close to perfect. My Dad was a dentist, however, so that may have something to do with it.

No.

That is what Americans call it, often pejoratively. No-one in the UK would have a clue what you meant by the term. In fact it is a publicly-funded health care system - the largest in the world.

It shows however that American propaganda is working!

If they keep saying that the UK has "socialized medicine"....well....then.... it must mean they are a.... "socialist country"!!! ....and socialism is...bad!! So "socialized medicine" must be...bad!!!!

Of course!!!

.....not.

Anyway, back to the teeth

Which is only because they are socialists so to them, it's not socialized, it's just normal

Anyway, "publicly funded", "socialized" - "to-may-toe", "to-mah-toe"

Not sure you have quite understood the meaning.

I am pointing out that the term is not used in the UK and is not correct either.

In the US the Vets medical system (VHA) is publicly funded. Are they socialized? Or socialists? Or maybe they are tomatoes?

I understand perfectly, I was just disagreeing in a lighthearted way.

In the US are children treated as a separate entity for health insurance policy purposes?? As in you pay extra on your policy for them??
Not so here..Until the age of 16 dental and health care are genuinely free...Not just at the so called point of delivery. No N/H insurance is paid until at least 16........

LINC:

There is no such thing as a free lunch.

Anyway, if you are happy so am I. I do not understand this perverse interest in the US healthcare system by others. I just don't get it.
