Default URGENT!! Postal Service info

My daughter sent something to UK via US postal service, that she shouldn't have.... I have contacted the US Postal Inspector but I won't get a call back till they open on Monday. I don't even know if the address she sent it to is a correct address. Actually am looking for closest post office to the address I have, so I can contact them direct.

Atleast give me some kind of insight as to how I can go about finding this info out. Also, looking for Police department phone number in that area as well.

I'm afraid unless she sent it via trackable mail then you'll not be able to track it until it arrives at the postal address it was sent to. The post office won't be able to help you I'm afraid. You could try the local royal mail office near to where it was sent to. Again though mail isn't tracked unless you pay extra for the facility.

Here's the UK postal services website:- http://www.royalmail.com/portal/rm

If you can speak to someone at the nearest 'sorting office' they are often very kind and helpful.

I have had issues in the past with the company I worked for not having a mailbox, and they held mail for me to collect.

They may be able to hold it until someone with ID can collect it.

If the address on the item is wrong, they will return to sender; does it have the return address on it...?

It is still worth calling the sorting office to see if they can help by returning the item.

If it gets through the sorting office to the postman dealing with that postcode (mailman) s/he may decide to deliver it to the nearest likely-looking address - and in the UK it's usual to have a letterbox directly through the door of a house, rather than a mailbox.

If that happened you would be relying on the resident of the house or building to return it - which is possible - but they may just put it in the trash.
