I agree, I've been to an Irish bar many a time and had a fantastic night out, full of laughs and everyone having a great time and making fools of themselves to everyones enjoyment, I havent been to a Scottish bar personaly, altho I would imagine the atmosphere is the same...........

Hi BritinaYanksbody, I spent a couple of weeks in Ashland, there was a pub there called the Black Sheep, It was obviously styled on a british Inn and was a nice place when you could get served.

Very similar except the accents of course, but still a great time. I enjoyed my time in Dublin but very quickly ran out of money! Dublin is by far a very expensive city to dine in.
Call me old fashioned for someone of my age but i love the fox and hounds pub in Houston. It has stag heads and fox mounts with non functioning firearms on the walls and has that quiant look/feel about it, the locals are not your typical chavs or trashy kind. Theres a lovely log burning fire and the building itself is traditional stone. Houston is a lovely little village with lots of history and upmarket real estate.

Sounds perfect! I wish I was there now instead of working!

It's been a while since anyone has written on this, but I just wanted to add that I was in barcelona this wknd, and there were LOADS of Irish bars. Being in them was just like being back home (in England that is... haha). You really can't get much better that a big yorkshire pudding filled with steak and guiness!

I appear to have corrected this - on sunday we went to the Didsbury Inn and they had a fireplace. Loved it, we're definitely going back there - they're food was great.
