My feeling is that "Armed Response Vehicles", "Authorized Firearms Officers", and "Specialist Firearms Officers" are stupid and pointless ... if you need a gun you need it right then and there, not 5 minutes or 10 minutes from then.
I find it especially disturbing that the Royal Family and the Prime Minister are always surrounded by armed officers (Metropolitan Police Royalty Protection Division and Special Branch officers are all armed) but yet the average person is totally defenseless.
Because we do not have the amount of gun crime that is rife in your streets across the USA.
Of course most of our crime is commited using sharp objects but If the time calls for it we can defend outselves quite well.
Thank God I live in the U.S.A. and not the UK. Can't believe the attitude of the police over there. Not saying gutless, but........
Maybe one of these days golly ole England will realize that society in general has become a lot more violent. Some people will lay down and plead for mercy while others will fight back. Too bad so many people find it easier to become PC (wimpy) than show backbone.
England had a reputation for being tough 60-70 years ago, guess it was a different breed of people then.
But to hear the cops over there saying they don't want to carry guns is just plain pathetic. Well, they can always get a job as doormen and still wear a uniform.

Your CD monika is very telling, so I presume you are one of those die hard gun freaks. Fortunately the cops here are not the blood thirsty, war mongering, over amped goons that you have there. Sure they be be a little pastey to look at, they may lack the bulging biceps you see on CHP officers, but I'll take them over what you have.
Listen if you took the time to visit or live in other countries you'll understand why so many prefer not to arm their cops.

Well said! At least if an officer isn't armed they can't shoot anyone by mistake!
I was going to mention tasers should be used on folk who don't buy tv licences, but I'll let you off because I agree with your post.
What i find shocking with the police force over here in USA is how many over weight officers there are, im surprised if many can run far. And they arent just the community police. Maybe thats why they have more fire arms LOL hmmm cant run so we will tase instead LOL.
Of course i have not seen any english police in a few yrs either, so not sure how fit they keep themselves these days.
Phew! Glad that's all you have to say. When I saw your name I thought "Oh gosh no, I'm too tired to do battle with this geezer"
You can't do battle with me - you shoot blanks -
