Your "over weight" officer example is few and far between I can assure you.

It's very dangerous being in law enforcement: Just last night, a local Sheriff stopped a car for a violation - while the Sheriff was writing the ticket, the subject pointed a double barrel shotgun and pulled the trigger - both barrels.

Not in the towns ive lived in over the last several yrs. Maybe how fit the officers are depend on size town or something. The towns ive lived in are small and rural areas. In Fact hubby and i both were concerned when we saw the fire fighters too. Not being mean but i understand that most are volunteer and i take my hat of to them but in a fire i want someone to be able to rescue my family, 3 of the guys here are so large that they are in no way shape or form able to even fit thorough a standard size window if need be or carry anyone down a ladder. Maybe they are water pump control or something.

Oh yeah and cops the show has also quite a lot of large officers. the new and old shows that is.
