There was an announcement by RyanAir that they'd start flying to the US, but nothing ever came of it. They are amazingly inexpensive within Europe. I have flown Boston to Dublin on AerLingus, then RyanAir to other Euro cities and it has been much less than flying direct or going thru London...
That's because you're flying in April. The prices I quoted where for the middle of June, a much more expensive time to fly. I check with and book through the airlines themselves, cutting out any additional booking costs with a middle-man company.
I am glad that was cleared up. ;-) that we agree that March April - is the cheapest time to fly.
Also, that there are direct non-middleman cheap flights!
However, whenever I go the Airlines, for example i just got back from Canada last week and I am going to Argential next month, I find that Travelocity gives me a lower quote than if i go directly to the site.
Why?
Because you don't see it, unless you pick the right day. Or for some other reason, i haven't figured out yet.
Even when i called and spoke to an Air canada rep, for him to find me the cheapest fllights, he suggested that i go online. When i went online, travelocity found me cheaper than what i found myself. Not that it wasnt' there to find, i just couldn't find it!
imo
but of course as a travel hungry person, i appreciate you and everyones experience.
Where are you flying from? Depending on your home city, you could also consider Icelandair. They may not be the absolute cheapest but they are thoroughly reliable, comfortable and the food is even edible. They fly to lots of European cities too including Glasgow and London.
I will be flying from Portland, OR US. The Air Canada flights I looked at either come from Vancouver, BC or Calgary, AB. Anyone heard of Easy Jet? One of my employees used to fly it all the time when she lived in England. She said she found flights around 20/30 euro to major European cities. (Unless that's the going rate in general) If it is, im moving!

I've never found travelocity to be cheaper and I stopped using them when I discovered they were advertising/quoting a flight that had already sold out. (Came up on the price quote when I searched but then when trying to book, it said no seats left). Gave me false hope that my husband could come see me sooner (when we were long distance) and when I discovered it was actually sold out, I sent them an email asking why they were still pricing a booked up flight. They gave me some BS about it selling out before the website could update and catch up - yet 24 hours later, they still had it up as available! I was pissed.

I used to live in England. Took both Easy Jet and Ryanair. Some really cheap prices out of London's secondary airports like Luton (sometimes as low as a 1 pound Plus tax). But I could next seem to make the return trip as cheap and had to pay 90-200 pounds. And they seem to charge for everything. Another negative is that they tend to flight to airports outside of the city (Charleroi for Brussels). Your ground transportation can eat up a lot of your savings...
Not too hijack the thread but, somewhat related...
Would anyone suggest using Gatwick VS Heathrow?Less crowded, less fuss?
Im thinking of that option but us airlines flying into Gatwick are limited.
Thought the topic might have been discussed earlier but cant find any thread....
