Actually, in the US states known as New England, people speak much more like the English. The use of "mum" is more frequent than "mom" and people talk about sitting on your "bum" which would never be heard in the US outside Massachusetts or some other parts of New England.

Theres also words from Scottish slang like "Ma" "Maw"

"Mum" is more commonly used though and "Mummy" in youngsters.
