Different people have different requirements for a "quality life"
I always find it bizarre that Seattle score so high and yet it rains so much, because for me that would (and did) affect the quality of my life enormously.
USA is such a huge place that it's impossible to generalise.
Does cost of living not affect your quality of life?
Maybe thta is dependant on your income. I find the UK ridiculously expensive, but then was on a below average wage.Value for money is important to me too, as is level of service, both of which have deteriorated in the UK.
Property prices are also very high and to me not value for money.

As a newcomer to USA,I can only talk about Mia...
Everyone has subjective qualifications for liking or disliking a city, but some objective ones should not be disputed...
Concerning London cleaness,I have personally walked areas in central London, looking for litter, till I got dizzy from...looking down. I found 0 trash.
As for noise, double glazing & english manners of not using the car horn or yelling ,make u hear an ambulance a mile away...Noisy tenants are also very rare...
On the other hand, the prohibition of guns & socialism does not suit me,but a non/anti - gun socialist American would fit perfectly in London, especially a royalist with classical bulls..ehm ..."education"...

Disagree with you, I think he is spot on. Well maybe not the lack of noise, but London is very clean indeed, them people are VERY nice, especially in the suburbs.

As an American who just got back from the UK and someone who travels to the UK frequently to see relatives, I can tell you that the quality of life is NOT better than the US and the cost of living is just ridiculous.

What struck me this trip, having not been since 2007, was what we in the states call "nickel and diming." What that means is that hidden charges are always lurking, whereas in the US they would be included in the product or service. Restaurants fits this model, as everything, including water, is charged for separately and at a very high price. Hotels have no exercise equipment or charge extra to use their equipment, something that is free and standard in the US, in even the cheapest motels. Same with Internet access. Most US hotels and motels include free or very inexpensive WiFi access. In the UK, they wanted huge sums for Internet access in hotels. And on and on.

The UK and Europe in general are very expensive, both in relative price to income, and also in what is included and what is charged for separately.
