Post News, Why Angry British Voters Are Tuning In to Bigots.

On Thursday, 7.9 million people in Britain headed home or found alternative berths from which to switch on the BBC's late-night weekly politics show, almost three times the program's normal viewership and around half of the total TV audience for the 10:35 p.m. slot. They were drawn like moths by a fiery controversy over the BBC's decision to invite Nick Griffin, the leader of the extremist British National Party, to join the debate.

The vast majority of British people have little or no time for the BNP. However, the same is true for all those other politicians who only ever show real creativity and unity of purpose when it comes to fiddling their expenses.

Not very democratic was it.Have you noticed the way the hostility has intensified since they took a couple of seats on the euro gravy train, from the main parties and their newspaper cronies.I like the way when they gave up on griffin they started on one another, a completely biased programme.Look what labour have done to this country turned us into a joke.

All Nick griffin needs to learn is how to answer like a proper politician,i.e. totally evading the question and blathering on about something else.

A racist is typically a white, hetrosexual, middle class, tax paying, law abiding citizen who contirbutes much to the state, takes little and dares to voice concerns about any minority seen not to be pulling their weight and/or voicing concerns about the general state of the country

Just reverse the roles and imagine the furore if a black or muslim politician had been subjected to the same abuse.

I don't think you can judge the popularity of his message by the number of people tuning in: there was a great deal of "rubber necking" - this is really strange, let's watch.

On the whole I'm with Hengist.

No, a racist is someone who discriminates against a group of people because of the colour of their skin, or their cultural background. Why is your description of something entirely different?

Nick Griffin cannot answer like a proper politician because he is a moron, who is only supported by people of equally moronic ideas and opinions.

It probably was undemocratic to lynch him the way he was on this particular show, and unfortunately only fuels the fire. Twould be best to allow him to speak his mind, opinions, and potential policies - thereby giving himself enough rope to hang him

Absolutely agree.

But, it is important to understand why the likes of Griffin are getting any notoriety at all. And this is because the existing politicians and political parties are hopelessly out of touch with so many people, are perceived to be corrupt and are perceived to be arrogant and conceited.

The mainstream parties should be thankful that Griffin is not competent. A BNP with a competent, articulate and charismatic leader would cause real damage.
