I've often wondered how the world's view of The United States has been shaped by our television programs.

So, did you grow up with I Love Lucy or Dick Van Dyke? Or was it Roseanne and Dallas? Please, tell me what shows you watched and which image, if any, really stuck.

Thanks!

The Waltons and Little House on the Prairie. Goodnight John-boy.

Unfortunately, when I lived in America in the 80s, most Americans seemed to get their image of Britain from Monty Python and Benny Hill.

I think we all base our impressions of a country through the TV if we have little understanding of what its really like. Shows like Dallas, Little House on the Prairie, Waltons, Knightrider, A-team, etc etc gave me my childhood impressions of the US.

Its funny now when Americans ask me if England is actually like the Notting Hill movie, or Bridget Jones - I wish!!

I think for me it was the Duke's of Hazzard, as it's the most true to life.
I have also seen some Sheriff's that fit the bill perfectly.

Then the rest where Dallas, Dynasty, Waltons etc.
