Not Izmir or Bursa (but Bursa was going to be my post... It's the nicest city I ever visited in Turkey.)

Not Istanbul (not Constantinople). Nice touch with the They Might Be Giants song

Go west. Ankara and Bursa are much closer. It has Phrygian, Greek and Roman roots and has a large university.
