I can't remember if I had to do it on my road test. However, I am also one who will search for a parking lot instead of parallel parking. If it was quiet and no one around, I'd attempt it, but not with traffic.

I did someone parallel parking over the weekend and thought how i hadn't seen that in a while.

I can still do it but I think most people are scared to do it and most folks cant drive.

This thread reminds me of the youtube video of that poor soul that couldn't parallel park a smart car.

Anyway, its not a lost art in my area. Like I told my sister, the only way to truly learn and get over that fear is when you're in a situation where you REALLY need to get in that spot and there are no other options. I just hate when some idiots trap me in and then I have to bump bumpers getting out.

I consider myself an expert at parallel parking, parallel parking is must have skill on the streets of LA

I'm good at it. Had to do it for years in London. Comes in handy on these narrow New Orleans streets sometimes, too.
