But in all seriousness, this little (under-appreciated) ditty by The Boss:

And since almost all your posts address how evil and soulless the suburbs and the people who inhabit them are, here's a little fuel for your fodder ("Captain Jack" by Billy Joel):
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2xxugNQUtpE

Listen to the lyrics closely. You probably think the horrors of suburban life made the song's main character into the man he is today. I'd argue that he'd be a loser regardless of where he came from. We can both agree that the song is awesome.

But this Billy Joel song was actually written with sprawl in mind (although he said in interviews that the Levitt-esque neighborhood he grew up in was fine because there were still woods close by to play in):

But what where are all the songs for "midway moderates" like me who hate sprawl and love cities but also happen to adore charming, inner ring suburbs divided between cute, pedestrian-friendly village centers abounding with non-chain resturants, neighborhood bars, and mom and pop stores (easily accessible to residents living in pre-war single-family homes); and nearby auto-centric areas with huge homes on appropriately-sized lots where tasteful, custom construction is the rule and not the exception?

I take it you didn't listen to the song. It's about the city.

In this dirty old part of the city.
Where the sun refused to shine.
People tell me there ain't no use in tryin.

Now my girl you're so young and pretty,
And one thing I know is true.
You'll be dead before your time is due..I know.

Watch my daddy in bed.. a-dyin'.
Watch his half bitten turnin' grey yeah
He's been work-in' and slavin' his life away oh yes I know.

Plus more.
