It seems unless there is a movie theater, Target, or Wal-Mart things won't get built these days.

We need a big list of projects stalled in this economy. Some I know of:

Maingate Project (The Strand) in Seaside, CA
Pacific Commons in Fremont, CA
Shops at Lake Havasu in Lake Havasu, AZ
Promenade Shops at Orchard Valley in Manteca, CA
Golden Hills Plaza in Paso Robles, CA

I'm sure there are plenty more unfinished shopping centers and lifestyle centers out there.

Metro Phoenix is the stupidest laid out region I have ever seen in the US. Miles after miles of strip malls/shopping centers that sprawl out across the region. Yet when you go in them, that is if you can find the entrance. You will find many are not opened or a lease sign is up, or they went out of business. Yet there is no end to the building of these type strip malls and storefronts. The construction may have slowed a bit in the past years, but certainly did not stop. It just seems like complete stupidity on the part of developers and politicians in this region.
