That whole 95 corridor from Salem, MA to Fredicksburg or Quantico, VA is a mess. Every state that highway goes through in that stretch has significant congestion problems.

Michigan traffic sucks not due to heavy usage but absolutely pathetic road conditions 6 months a year. Presumably, Michigan DOT is broke, and failed to properly plow a section of I 94 in January after 7 inches of "flurries" according to the locals. If that's a flurry, I would hate to see what a Michigan "snowstorm" looks like

For me it is the trip from the DC area to the Outer Banks during one summer weekend via I-95, I-64, and Rt. 168/158. First I-95 was a constant stop and go from Dumfries to really Richmond. Then I-64 is only 4-lanes from Richmond to Newport News so that was like a 50 mile crawl. We even took the other tunnel only to sit in even more traffic on Rt. 168. There is essentially only one bridge to Nags Head from points north (Wright Memorial Bridge) and that was literally stop and go for 20 miles. The trip normally takes 4 hours, but that day it was more like 6 1/2 to 7 hours. Now I just go down I-95 to US 64 in NC even though it is out of the way. I hate stop and go traffic especially in the heat, it was awful.
