The object of this design is to reduce road congestion and improve the social vehicle ownership.
Civil ownership of vehicles is limited by so many factors such as parking area, but the main constraint is the main road capacity. The improvement of road access efficiency and ownership have a significant impact on our socio-economic development.
It is also well-known that the plane intersection is not efficient enough since its capacity is much smaller than that of road. If we can solve the problem of key junctions, we can greatly improve the capacity of road and the ownership of vehicles in the entire city. Common turntable intersection, which is been widely used, has been proved to be safe through a long-term test. The issue is its capacity cannot meet the huge increase in traffic today’s society demands.
In order to improve the capacity of the road, especially to break the limit of cross road. I design this new three-tier turntable overpass program, see attached. It has the following features:
1. The lower is for smaller cars, in accordance with the road design specifications, by height limitation of 2.2 meters;
2. Middle used by pedestrians and non-motorized, whose height also limited by 2.2 meters;
3. Upper is for medium and large cars.
Hopefully the new design has following advantages:
1. This design could make full use of the three-dimensional space of the intersection and it is compatible with existing standards. A significant reduction can been seen in the height difference between the layers of the road, reducing vehicles energy wasted while waiting or climbing on the viaduct. What’s more, this design can have a shorter length Approach.
2. It is expected that the capacity can be increased by around double. Intersection point could be no longer be blocked and efficiency of urban roads could be improved, so do the vehicle ownership of the city.
3. The design can be done without increasing the footprint of the original layout.
4. It proves the most straight-forward simple path for pedestrians and non-motorized.
5. Since the design completely separate pedestrians and vehicles, fewer accidents will be seen between people and cars.
I am hoping to find collaborators and get support and help. Also, I will make a more detailed design and verification.
I have faith that this design can be able to benefit society very soon.
