Tuesday mornings in my neighborhood the trash & recycling bins are set out. By 8:30am the trucks have come by and emptied them.
Occasionally I forget to set out my recycling bin and at 8:15am I was brought to reality by the sound of the truck outside. "Too late, I missed it," I thought.
I had a thought to pack the manageably-sized bin into my car and drive up the street a bit and set it in front of a house that the collection truck hadn't visited yet, but would be there within a minute.
Then after my bin is empty, I'd drive it back home.
Illegal? Harmless? Both?
I know it's "illegal" to place your trash in someone else's bin. That's fairly understandable.
But what about my little idea? My own bin placed in front of another house for just a moment, probably hopefully unnoticed by anyone.
Wouldn't it be easier to catch up with the truck and ask them to empty your bin?
Haha, yes, I hadn't thought of that! But
1)if I did that it might throw off their rhythm...and
2) I'm not a morning person...I'd have to think fast, strategically park my car and *gasp* have to verbally communicate with these trash collectors! Haha

Try putting it out the night before. That's what many of us in my 'hood do.

Oh yes, that's the normal thing to do. The trash bins are out the night before. My recycle bin, however, is just a bin with no lid so I prefer to set it out in the morning so things don't go flying out in the wind, and vermin don't dig through it overnight.

Oh the horror of it all....
