What urban planning related projects would like to see for your area? I'll divide mine up into: Very doable, doable but unlikely in short term, pipe dream

Where I live: Louisville KY / IN metro are, population 650k city, 1.4 million in greater region

Very doable
* Change all one way streets back to their original two way alignment
* Remove interchangeable lanes that everyone ignores on urban section of Bardstown Rd
* Add / improve sidewalks, add streetscaping such as street lamps
* Add street lights to all suburb highways (most are totally unlit)

Doable but unlikely in short term
* Fill in all parking lots downtown with low rise buildings like used to be there
* Build a soccer stadium in the warehouse district just west of downtown
* Reopen side lanes on 18th St rail bridge to allow pedestrian / bike connection between New Albany IN and Portland neighborhood (rail company dragging feet, still being considered)
* Bring in an NBA team for the city's new plush arena
* Several freeway interchanges need serious upgrade, especially I-265 & I-64 in KY

Pipe Dreams
* Complete the I-265 loop around the western part of the metro, reroute all interstates around it
* Subway under busiest urban corridors, light rail connecting outlying towns to downtown
* Removed the interchange of I-65/ 64/ 71 from downtown
* All but 1 of the 3 Southern Indiana cities have a downtown area. Clarksville had one that was leveled after the 1937 flood. Build C'ville a new downtown somewhere else.

Chicago region

Likely to happen:
Extend the Elgin OHare expressway to Elgin and OHare.
Build bypass roads around that airport
(sort of) High Speed Rail (110 mph) to St Louis and Detroit.
Busways downtown.
Rerouting SWS trains into LaSalle ST Station
Ravenswood flyover

Unlikely but possible:
Star line around the western suburbs, Hoffman Estates to Aurora without
Having to go through Chicago.
CTA circle line
Extension of Orange Line to Ford City
Covering I 290 through Oak Park
Casino near McCormick Place
Extension of IL 53 into Lake County

Extremely unlikely:
Domed stadium
Illiana Expressway
Prairie Parkway
Airlines using South Suburban Airport
