What is the easiest way to design your own bus route? Google Maps or a 3rd party software?

Thanks.

Starts at the end of my driveway, A Stop at the bagel palace, then go directly to my office...

I leave at random times between 6:30am and 7:30am so I will need a bus with around 5 minute headway, so I don't need to wait to long .

I've used Google Map Maker and drawn the lines where I want them (you can color them to make them distinguishable), add stops (you can change the icon to a bus or a M for Metro, etc), and at stops, you can add a description (such as what routes serve that stop, what times, etc.).

Here is a link that shows one of my maps (this one is of a commuter rail system, but same idea). If you click on the station (marked with a M), you can see bus and rail connections at that station.

* Some stations I need to fix the bus routes so it doesn't say anything.

The purpose of public transit buses is to get people from where they are, to where they need to be.

If a route doesn't serve both locations, people aren't going to ride on it.

I would design several that run in circles around the Center City, on beltways if possible, serving Park and Ride terminals and employment/entertainment nodes. Traffic signal priority, with passing lanes, would be desirable. In metros with commuter rail, they would stop at select train stations with huge parking lots.
The Jeffery Jump is also a good example.http://www.transitchicago.com/assets...re_FINAL_2_Web[1].pdf
