That raises the question of how low-density can a city or urban area be, or spread itself out at, over land, to the point where it's no longer considered "a city"?

At what point is it just a bunch of settlements or neighbourhoods, towns etc., spread over a county or something...

Yes within the 244 square miles Urbanised zone of OKC it's a city , however the remaining 377 miles left over is just rural country.

OKC has all of the amenities that you would find in any urban city in America , and is in the process of building " light rail " within it's urban core.

OKC has first tier Major League Sports , downtown canal , river development park , ballet , opera , broakway theater , live music venues , museums , theme park etc.

I do understand your point, but Anchorage ISvery major to the state of Alaska. Whether it's not as major when compared to OKC doesn't really matter does it? Major is Major to me. Anchorage is a "Primate City" much like New York or Chicago is...To put it another way: Anchorage has more wealth, power, influence and population relative to it's own state than LA does with CA, or Houston does in TX, or Miami...That to me makes Anchorage a major city.

Anchorage is more "( Major) Than New York City " is to New York State , 40% of the "Population of Alaska " lives in Anchorage , point well taken.
